DofE Diamond Challenge · 31 December 2016 ·

We’re more determined than ever to make sure new generations, especially young people from disadvantaged groups, can discover the power of DofE.

Story

I’m not putting it off any longer. I’m taking the DofE Diamond Challenge right now. Sponsor me or a member of the team and help transform the lives of vulnerable young people.

My Diamond challenge will run between 28th May and 1st June 2016.

During the spring of 2007, 3 members of this team including myself took part in a 3 peaks challenge to raise money for our school charities. We set 5 goals for this challenge and we completed 4 of them. The primary focus was £10 000 for charity in that year. The 5th goal was to do the challenge in 24 hours. Well we still have not managed it yet! We believe that we can; and nearly 10 years on we have a strong Duke of Edinburgh following in school and as a school we have a growth mind set mentality. So the Diamond challenge is a perfect setting for this second attempt. We would also like to make this extra special by visiting the diamond in the crown of places in Scotland and that is the Isle of Skye. Here you have some true alpine mountain ranges, the Black Cuillins with 12 of the 282 Munros to choose from. We are going to attempt to climb the most difficult Munro of all, the Inaccessible Pinnacle, 986m, on Sgurr Dearg. We will be enlisting the help of Mike Lates's Skye Guides (www.skyeguides.co.uk)
