Story
Thank you for visiting our Just Giving Page.
A few of you will know our story of when our son was born last year For those of you that do not the CATS charity saved our little boy Joey's life!
Joey was born last year extremely poorly. He was born with severe Meconium Aspiration and ended up in Plymouth's Derriford hospital where we were then told that they could not do anymore for him and he needed to be moved to Great Ormond Street for emergency treatment.
The Children's Acute Transport Service (CATS) team came down from London to Plymouth where they then organised for Joey to be transferred to Great Ormond Street by a RAF helicopter. They landed and were met in Regents Park by an ambulance and further medical teams to then get him to Great Ormond Street. This reduced significantly the time it would have taken to get Joey to London and it was this that saved our little boys life!
Our journey continued with the CATS team 9 days later when we were told the superb news that Joey could be transferred closer to home to Exeter hospital. It was arranged due to the distance that we would be whisked through London in an ambulance to an air field in Kent where we would be transferred onto a specially designed private jet that enables sick children to be transferred not only quickly but safely. It took us just 36 minutes to get from Kent to Exeter!
It was like something from a movie and still can not believe to this day the level of care and not forgetting the amount of money that was spent on our little boy to save his life and make sure he is here with us today and all this on the NHS!!
This is why it is time we gave something back!!
