Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.

Story

Hi everyone this a brief run through of what is happening,

Our staff in Bridgend, are taking part in The Logica Multi Charity Abseiling Event being held at Bridgend Fire Station on Friday 30th March 2012.

My team members and I (Rebecca Jones, Roy Williams, Huw Samuel) are going to be taking part in the event and raise as much money possible for BLISS Special care babies (for babies born too soon, too small, too sick)

BLISS: http://www.bliss.org.uk/

Bliss, the special care baby charity, provides vital support and care to premature and sick babies across the UK. We offer guidance and information at a critical time in families' lives. We also fund ground-breaking research and campaign for babies to receive the best possible level of care regardless of when and where they are born.

A bit about why we picked this charity....On the 1 of July 2009 my daughter Eva Paige was unexpectedly born at 32 weeks weighing 3lb 3oz. When we first saw her connected to machines with tubes/ needles in her little arms and legs it was a very scary time. Her first few days were very tough with her catching an infection and dropping down to just 2lb 6oz, the doctors and nurses in Bridgend SCBU were fantastic and managed to get her through it and back to a stable condition! Thankfully she has come on well since then and has no lasting issues from her being premature. During our 6 weeks stay in Bridgend Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) we had lots of support and help from the staff there and BLISS. The support they give families during this difficult time is invaluable, especially when you don’t know what to expect with a premature baby. We would like to show our appreciation by fundraising as much as we can to help BLISS support and help other families with premature babies.
