We provide expert, specialist support to women & children fleeing domestic abuse
Story
Dear friends and family,
After thinking about it for many years, I have finally decided to take the plunge and run the 2010 London Marathon. Already 6 weeks into my training I have stopped smoking and swapped early morning hangovers for early morning runs in the freezing cold! Not an easy feat for those who know me well! The training is bloody hard, but every time I feel like giving up, I think about the charity I am running for, Refuge, and raising as much money as I can for them.
Refuge is a charity that works with women and children experiencing and escaping domestic violence, which is very close to my heart. 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence at some point in their life. This means that a woman you know - a sister, friend, daughter or colleague – could be at real risk of abuse with no one to turn to and nowhere to go.
My target is £1800 which I would love to exceed so please please dig deep and help me reach my goal of making a difference to the lives of women and children in crisis. I feel honoured to be able to do something for such a worthwhile charity, and by sponsoring me you will be a part of that
A big big thank you in advance for your support
Much love Carly x
Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.
