Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  

As a woman who feels that she has everything she needs (and who actually needs to do some serious decluttering!), I decided that rather than asking for presents on my birthday I would love to have donations towards a charity instead.  

You may know that I'm pretty crazy about animals, so I chose an animal welfare charity called SPANA (Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad).   SPANA helps donkeys, mules, camels, elephants and other animals in third world countries in Africa and Asia.  SPANA's work is mainly providing medical treatment, training vets, educating livestock farmers and school children, as well as rescuing animals from natural disasters such as drought and famine.  SPANA is making a real difference in relieving these animals from all kinds of suffering, including malnutrition, diseases, pain caused by heavy loads and badly fitting bridles.   See this website to find out more about the charity's work: https://www.spana.org

I would love to use my 50th birthday to make a positive impact on the lives of suffering animals.  This is a matter that is dear to my heart and whatever you can donate towards the wonderful work of SPANA will be so gratefully received.  Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion towards these animals, Carol
