Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On March 4th 2019 I had a pretty big back operation to help mend my wonky legs. In 2007 I had over trained for the London Marathon and my left foot basically crumbled, which long story short left me with a DVT and compartment syndrome and in time irreversible nerve damage in both legs which changed my life both personally and forced me to give up 2 passions of mine, being a retained fire fighter and running. I took the huge decision to have a SCS, Spinal Cord Simulator fitted which, is attached to my spinal cord and sends messages to my brain to kill the pain in my legs, this has completely changed mine and my families life and has given me the chance to run and have fun again, there are things I will never be able to do but this is such a small price to pay.

In 2007 I was running the marathon in memory of my fabulous brother, who died when I was 15, he was 18 and had gone on a year out to Canada, he was an experience rock climber but that day something went wrong and that was the end of our family of 4. Of course we have fantastic memories but its not the same so we have had to pick ourselves up over the years and learn how to live without David.

David had a massive passion for the outdoors and mountaineering and anything that falls close, he spent a lot of time in Lake District on the fells, so as a family we have always supported Patterdale Mountain Rescue as it makes us all feel close to him. So many of our friends and family have supported Patterdale over the years but I would absolutely love it if I could tap you for that bit more to celebrate David and the end of my wonky legged life.

I must be completely nuts doing this, Marathon du Medoc, entails running through the French vineyards in September, it is a wine and cheese marathon, there are 23 wine and cheese stops on the 26.1 mile route.....! I will be joined by my crazy 2 friends Lisa and Lisa!

I also feel I should give my fabulous husband a quick mention....mainly because he will now be abandoned even more with the kids whilst I go running.......and delivering Sausage Rolls.....my rock, Matt.
