Story
The lives of our family and friends were changed forever in March 2015 when my beautiful husband, Steve, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer; a Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade IV.
Steve coped extremely well with the operation to remove his tumour and a 9 month course of radio/chemotherapy. However, in January 2016, a routine MRI scan did show that a tumour had started to re-grow away from the original site and that surgery, sadly, was no longer an option. He started a new round of chemo in May on a UCH clinical trial, but was pulled from this when a scan in September revealed the tumour had grown again. Steve started a course of IV chemotherapy back at Addenbrookes, but sadly this did not stunt or shrink the growth of his tumour and he devastatingly passed away on November 30th 2016 - 21 months post diagnosis and aged just 37 years.
Upon learning about his diagnosis, Steve chose to live. He worked, continued with family life and ran regularly for as long as his health allowed. He was committed to raising the awareness of brain tumours and the devastation that they cause patients and their carers and wanted to help others in his predicament.
In Steve's memory, we are determined to continue to raise money for the brilliant charity, Brainstrust. Brainstrust provide support to UK families affected by brain cancer and helps them to get the support, treatment and resources they require following initial diagnosis and throughout their BT journey.
We can't thank you enough for supporting us and we hope to see you at one of our fundraising events soon.
With Kindest Regards
