Why you may ask am I, at the age of 66, silly enough to want to do a zip slide across the River Clyde on the 24th of March.  The answer is easy.  Ever since Jimmy, my husband, began down the heartbreaking path of dementia I have become more aware of the growing need to support Alzheimer Scotland in any way that I can to help them support not, just myself, but other sufferers and their carers to help them cope with the devastating effect this can have on the whole family.

 Although Jimmy is now in Residential Care I have carried on volunteering at events for sufferers and their carers and also in the dementia ward in the local hospital.  I was also fortunate enough last year to go to the European Dementia Conference in Warsaw and tell my story, along the path of dementia from a carer's point of view, to professionals from around the world.  They admitted that although they have all the knowledge of research and practical solutions they do not know what it is like to be a carer 24/7.  I hope I am able to support other carers to cope better with the situation they are experiencing as a thank you for the support Alzheimer Scotland gave, and still gives, to me.

These are my reasons for doing this so please help me raise as much money as I can.  Every £1 I raise will be spent wisely and will directly support people with dementia.
