Event: Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in October 2016
We provide children's hospice care to children and families across Sussex

Story

Keeping trim and fit used to be easy in my days as a dancer
but a few desk jobs and 3 kids later it’s a lot harder! In an effort to keep elasticated
waist bands at bay I work out once a week and attend an adult ballet class
which I find great for both body and soul.

I hatched a plan to attempt to climb Mt Kilimanjaro a few
years ago but my new catering business ‘The Gourmet Chef’ gathered speed fast
and plans got shelved. When I heard about this trip I knew it was my chance to
have a go. It will be a massive personal challenge but I’m also hoping to make
my family proud and show them whilst good at French plaits, remembering school
kit, doing laundry and making spag bol, Mum can also have the odd adventure
too!

With the children at the forefront of my mind, I’m raising
money for Chestnut Tree House, a Sussex based hospice for children and young
adults aged 0 – 19 years of age. Their goal is to provide the best quality of life for
children, young people and their families, and to offer practical, social and
spiritual support throughout each child’s life, however short it may be.

About the charity

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire, caring for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age every year, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes.
