In memory of Betty Wallace

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Bomber Command Memorial was so important to Betty who's first husband, Andy Maitland, was killed during WW2 when his Lancaster Bomber was shot down over Mannheim. In the days leading to her death, Betty's spirits were lifted by the knowledge that the Memorial to him and thousands like him was unveiled in Hyde Park. She and the Maitland clan were treated appallingly by the Government at the time and was something that they have never forgotten. The Memorial is helping to heal those wounds and I am just so thankful that she lived long enough to know that it is here and the sacrifice made by Andy and all the other Bomber Boys who never returned, will never be forgotten. xxx
