We provide funding to homeless individuals to help them rebuild their lives

Story

We are a group of staff and service users from Riverside ECHG, who live at the Wilmslow Area Accommodation Project (WAAP) for homeless people. We are working together on a huge cycling project.

We are cycling round the Cheshire Canal Ring over three days. This involves 61 locks, 5 tunnels and camping for some of the WAAP residents.

They want to raise money for Church Housing Trust, which helps fund projects that help residents to achieve their goals such as travelling to training, accessing resettlement funds, gardening, accessing recovery programmes and much much more!

Alan and Glynn are the brains behind the event. Alan has spent the last three years on the streets and moved in to WAAP in November 2013. Glynn has spent the past 10 years on the streets and is due to move in with us soon. Alan has since started working on changing his life positively, and is doing amazingly. Other service users who are getting involved will be completing the event in sections.

Staff members will also take on sections of the event to help the service users along the way.

The cycle is planned over a three-day period, from Macclesfield on the 26 June and finishing there on 28 June. This is the route:
