Bath Half Marathon 2010 · 7 March 2010 ·

Trust PA Spinal Injury Charity, was set up in memory of Paul-Andre Blundell (PA), who was totally paralysed during a rugby tackle and later died. He had hoped to benefit from the work to restore movement and sensation. TPA funds pioneering repair operations as seen on BBC TV. 10-12 more needed asap.

Story

I am 41 years old. I have never run before.

A few years ago my husband, Tim was admiited to a spinal injuries unit. Along with Tim, there were so many people who were also unable to wash, feed themselves, read a book or even scratch their nose.

Like us all, there were good days and off days but above all there was an overwhelming and incredible sense of hope. Nothing was impossible. Christopher Reeve was their hero, he had brought the world's attention to spinal injury, their hope was not forgotten. He would walk again. The day his small finger flickered was a momentous occasion. At the time,I had thought very little of this news, 'big deal'. When he ultimately died, everyone was sad, but the hope was still very much alive. I have never been so humbled. These were people for whom it was a marathon effort to 'simply' sit in a chair and yet life was so rich because of their hope.

Now it is truly my privilege to do something which will raise money to help keep the hope alive. Please give as much as you possibly can.
