The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit. The default message here goes on about how JustGiving is secure, won't spam you, won't sell your details, work with Gift Aid etc. So yeah, bear all that in mind ;)

As I train I do sometimes wonder quite why I decided to torture myself like this. Raising money for a good cause is an excellent reason, so the more I raise the better. Guide Dogs do a hell of a lot of good work, and it seems to me they often get forgotten when fundraising because the people they're helping aren't terminally ill. That doesn't make them any less worthy. For a lot of people a guide dog not only gives them independance, it is also provides much needed companionship. Think about how close people get to their pets. Now imagine if you depended on that animal more than anyone else in the world to be able to perform basic tasks like going to the shops.

Plus, y'know, cute doggies! I always donate to Guide Dogs when I see them raising cash in town or in the Supermarket so I have an excuse to fuss the dog ;)
