I've decided to run the Brighton Marathon on behalf of Royal Mencap Society. Mencap is the leading charity supporting individuals who have learning disabilities and / or difficulties. The support that they provide is truly life changing to not just the individuals, but their whole families. This means I have 3 months to train myself to run the mammoth distance of 26.2miles, whilst balancing a university degree and my job.

Being an employee of Mencap I work alongside individuals where I can see how much of a positive impact Mencap has had on their lives. However, it is still shockingly apparent the stigma and negative attributes connected to those with a learning disability and / or difficulty, preventing them from taking part in education, employment, relationships and other parts of life. All donations are going towards changing this, through the different programmes Mencap provide and advocacy and campaigning for equality that Mencap fights for daily.
