Story
Having never been someone you would call a runner - I'm much happier in the small box of a badminton court - but the arrival of the year 2020 got me thinking about what challenge I should do this year.
Having previously completed epic cycle challenges and ultra long walks I thought I would give running a go. Training, whilst not always easy, has been going well and I've picked up from barely being able to make ten minutes in the first week of January to running an hour non stop. Looking around for more events I can across GSR and decided that would be the big challenge for this year.
I'll be slower than a tortoise plodding through toffee but the aim is to run non stop the whole 10 miles. Whatever time I make will be a PB as I've never run more than 7km until this year.
Training run events have been booked - some local and some further afield to build my pace and distance. Dinton Pastures 5k in March, Blenheim 7k in April and Shinfield 10k in May to name a few. Then just keep building until October.
I have been a member of Medic Alert since I was diagnosed with my nut allergy as a pre-schooler. Many of you would have seen my bracelet which is a permanent feature of my attire and contains my emergency details should I be caught up in an accident or be too unwell to explain my allergies. Thankfully I've not had another serious reaction, not to tempt fate, but I'm safe in the knowledge that the information is there should anything go wrong. MedicAlert is a charity which cannot survive on memberships like mine alone so I wanted to take this opportunity to give something back to support them further.
Anything you can give, big or small will help immensely to fund their work.
