On Saturday 13th June, I am attempting to cycle from Edinburgh to St Andrews to support Lepra. They work to prevent and treat avoidable tropical diseases, including leprosy, tuberculosis, and malaria (from which I was once lucky enough to recover). My cycling companions over the years will know of my phobia of skinny tyres and drop handle-bars, clinging to the security of my MTB with chunky tyres and good brakes. However, my mid-life crisis has consisted of getting myself a fast, shiny (nearly) new road bike, braving tram tracks, cobbles and other Edinburgh hazards. So I hope this will help me tackle the 68 mile route, across the Forth Bridge (the one that is finished) and over the hills of Fife, sustained only by (I hope) large pieces of cake provided by the local Rotary club at strategically-placed stalls along the route. Thank you for your support.
