Downton Half Marathon 2012 · 25 November 2012
The moral of the story? Don't drink. At least not with someone who claims to be your friend but is trying to get you to run far too far with them (you know who you are, Louise Pritchard!). So, one addled brain later, I find I am attempting to run the Downton Half Marathon, near Salisbury, on 25 Nov (is it wrong to pray for an early white Christmas and three feet of snow?). As the 79 training runs are slowly ticked off and those I see on a daily basis become more and more bored by my obsession about how far I've managed to drag my sorry self around the streets of Sheffield (or Wiltshire, Loughborough, Manchester or the Isle of Arran, there's no escaping the training, including a couple of 10k races - Tytherley and Bupa Great Yorkshire - to keep on track), it seems I can no longer get out of it. Setting up this page has foiled any last desperate escape plan (notwithstanding breaking a leg, or maybe two, just to make sure).
I'm not a natural runner (but can now execute a mean ShufflePlod!), so if you would like to help me suffer as much as possible from now until approx midday 25 Nov, please sponsor me - the charity really does provide some great support. Thank you.
