The Wolf Run · 22 September 2012
Hello,
I am running in The Wolf Run on 22 September to raise money for Battledown Centre for Children with Special Needs, based in Cheltenham. I am running to raise money towards a new Sensory Room as a thank you for the special care they have shown my 5 year old son Felix over the last few years. Felix is both physically and mentally disabled but this school sees past all of this to the real child and brings them on to the best of their abilities. Battledown has been a saviour for us, bringing Felix on considerably.
The Wolf Run is a 10k run through woods, over obstacles, a lake swim and fields. I have never attempted anything like this and I am not usually seen in trainers. Why the challenge? Felix has taught me that anything is possible and to pick yourself up each and every time you fall down. I am a Lone Wolf as I couldn’t find anyone mad enough to run with me after seeing the video at www.thewolfrun.com
The school relies heavily on fundraising and the Sensory Room is at the heart of this, engaging children through play. It is a safe environment where children can come and experience different lights, movement and sounds and senses in an interesting and interactive way. It quite literally stimulates all of their senses and is an important part of sensory development no matter how profound the disability.
Is it a mud life crisis? Most probably and I will admit I am a little bit scared.
Thank you for your interest
