Story

CATH🧜‍♀️🩱

Joining the Newquay Blue tits has opened my eyes to the benefits of cold water swimming.  The ocean and these new sea-sisters have been my therapy through this crazy summer. I’m  doing this challenge to raise much needed funds for Cornwall Mind.

Our team, The Double D dippers, plan to swim at 6 local bays on Sunday morning, in just our swimsuits, walking between them where possible. ❄️

CHLOE🧜‍♀️👙

I am joining the ladies in the 6 bay challenge, to help raise money and awareness for mental health issues. I spend as much time in the ocean as possible, as it helps me de stress! Although I am yet to swim in Uk waters in October without a wetsuit!! ❄️

JUSTINE🧜‍♀️🩱

I grew up in Oxfordshire which is one of the most landlocked counties. Seven years ago I moved down to Newquay and haven’t looked back!

During lock down my love of the sea is what has helped me through. I discovered the Bluetit’s at the end of May which was a complete game changer! This group has given me friendships and membership to an incredible sisterhood which has supported me through this unsettling time.

To me the sea is magic, it washes away worries and fears and takes you back to a time of being carefree and childlike... the sea is my sanctuary xx❄️

GILL🧜‍♀️👙

I've always loved the sea, I spent my childhood on the Newquay beaches  and had been looking for a cold water swimming group for quite a while, so when I found the Newquay Bluetits I was delighted, they were just what I was looking for and when I saw they were doing  a swim at Vugga cove in March I knew it had to me my first swim, as I've been swimming there since I was 14, so on that cold morning I set off on my own with all kinds of nerves inside me, when I got to the carpark my nerves soon melted away, what a lovely welcoming  bunch of ladies I met that day & I've been hooked ever since.

As like most mental health has effected me on and off through the years, so I had to get involved in this challenge for Cornwall Mind ❄️

LUCIE🧜‍♀️🩱

I am so excited for this challenge, and honoured to be welcomed into the blue tit family for the weekend.

I’ve see how much of an amazingly positive affect the group has had on Justine and I can’t wait to get involved.

I, myself have also struggled with mental health for many years and have just completed 1 year with no alcohol for the Oxfordshire Mind charity so I am so pleased to be helping towards such a wonderful cause again x ❄️

As well as our entry fees we would really love it if you'd help by making a donation via this JustGiving page.
