In November 2013 I left my job, my flat, my friends and family and moved to Kenya to volunteer for VSO, Voluntary Service Overseas.
VSO sends professional volunteers overseas to tackle the causes of poverty. As a professional fundraiser I'm working for a local charity in Nairobi helping the staff to be better able to fundraise for the vital resources they need to carry out their work. The charity supports young people across Kenya of which there are many! 78% of the population is under the age of 35 and the challenges they face are huge. 60% of unemployed people in Kenya are under the age of 30 and critical health issues such as HIV/ AIDS affect them disproportionately.
I'll be here until November 2014 but please donate to VSO to help send more volunteers to places where their skills are needed. You can read more about my work on my blog: http://twendevso.wordpress.com/
Thank you for your support!
