A personal mission in aid of The Alzheimers Society
Alzheimer's is a terrible disease we need to help to find a cure. Catherine Howe of Commercial Credit Control is looking for your support, in June 2012 she will be challenging herself to LEJOG a 1046 mile cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats in just 13 days.
Catherine is looking to raise £3,000 in sponsorship which will go entirely to the charity.
Catherine is a latecomer to cycling after moving from the grueling but relative safety of the gym spinning class to cycling on the open road and completing the width of Britain Coast to Coast ride in her first year of taking up cycling.
Being someone who is always looking for a challenge to push herself and raise the profile and funds for some worthy charities Catherine is now training for her next mammoth challenge.
Most of us would not even consider attempting this challenge but Catherine is certainly someone determined to break the mould and push herself both physically and mentally to the limit. Now in her 40’s and battling the effects of the menopause Catherine’s approach is to exercise and work harder often at temperature you would expect from a volcano - Catherine takes all life’s challenges in her stride and gets on with it often with a dry sense of comedy along the way. Probably the only thing that is dry in Catherine’s world at the moment she would say.
She has seen at first-hand how the debilitating disease impacts on the lives of the friends and family who are also involved in that person’s life.
The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer's disease, affecting around 465,000 people in the UK. The disease affects can include loss of memory, mood changes, and problems with communication and reasoning.
