Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running a half marathon near Copenhagen to try and raise some funds for a small charity called 'the foundation for human nature' (FHN).

FHN supports two rural health clinics; one in Ghana and one in Ecaudor.

I spent some time volunteering with this charity in Ghana in 2011. The health centre provides 24 hour basic medical care to the surrounding rural populations, and is the only health facility in the area.  As well as a clinic it has a few beds  to treat those who are more unwell/cannot afford referral, as well as a small maternity unit.

The health centre also promotes basic health education in the isolated villages through the help of volunteer members of each community, who act as health promoters. These volunteers are trained via the clinic.

The clinic is run entirely by local staff, and volunteers from the UK travel there intermittantly to help educate the staff and run local outreach clinics with the help of the health promoters in the more isolated communites.

The health centre has made a big difference to the health of people in this poor community who would be unable to afford health care otherwise.

I am trying to raise a small amount of money to provide ongoing support to their great work! All money goes to the clinic and the overseas volunteers are entirely self funded.
