Story
A BIG thank you for all your donations and support.
The London Marathon was an amazing experience which I will never forget,I am so pleased that the money raised will go to such a worthy cause.
My feet are blistered and sore and the trainers and back in the cupboard (for a while...) but I wouldn't have changed it for the world!
I knew when I was challenged to dust off my running shoes (and there was a lot of dust) and sign up for the London Marathon there would be only one charity I would approach for a place: Action Duchenne.
The news that Ioan (my Cousin's son) was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) both shocked and devastated our close knit family.
DMD is a progressive and debilitating muscle waisting condition with at present no cure. Ioan's parents were delivered the heart breaking reality that their son could be in a wheelchair in his early teens and his life expectancy severely reduced.
Government funding in finding a cure for this disease is very limited as it effects only 100 boys in the UK each year. Action Duchenne provides vital funding into trials and treatments for this disease as well as raising awareness and providing support for families.
People have told me I must be mad running 26.2 miles but I know no matter how hard it will be it comes no where near the day to day challenges families living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy face.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and would help towards funding the research in finding a cure.
