Story

A triple challenge for our 3 peak Champion walkers

Champion are an accountancy practice, based in the North West of England.  We were established in Manchester in 1971 and since then we’ve grown to a team of more than 100 accountants, business advisors and support staff.  We decided that there was no better way to celebrate our 50th anniversary than to set ourselves a challenge to raise £50,000 to support local charities that matter most to us.

We decided that our final fundraising event for the year should be the biggest challenge we’ve ever taken on – and what’s better than taking on the 3 Peaks, 3 ways!  A team of 22 intrepid Champion trekkers from across our 4 offices in Manchester, Blackpool, Chester and Preston have stepped up to brave the 3 peaks.

A team of 9 committed walkers are attempting to take on the National 3 Peaks in just 24 hours; and a second team comprising 3 of our Directors from our Manchester office will also be tackling all 3 national peaks in 3 consecutive days.  This will involve hiking a total of 23 miles and a total ascent of 3064 metres (that’s the height of 700 double decker buses!!!).

Our third team of 10 trekkers are taking on an equally tough challenge braving the Yorkshire 3 peaks in under 12 hours – this will involve walking a total of 25 miles continuously and tacking an ascent of 1585m (the height of 369 double decker buses!)

After the last two years of fear and uncertainty, mental health has become an issue that is more important than ever to the team at Champion – whether we know someone who’s personally been impacted by the need for mental health support or have seen the crisis facing mental health providers.  We wanted to use our anniversary fundraising as an opportunity to give back and support a charity that has felt an unprecedented demand for their services recently, and we felt the Manchester and Salford Samaritans were the perfect charity for us to help.

This is a massive challenge for our team to take on and training is well underway – we’re so excited for the chance to attempt to conquer the 3 peaks in 3 ways and raise money for such a fantastic charity.

We’re committed to raising a massive £50,000 in our 50th year – if you can help us achieve this goal and support the Samaritans, please donate here!

Thank you for your support!
