Story
On Sunday 10th October I will be running the Bournemouth half marathon to raise money and spread awareness for this brilliant cause in memory of Hattie this is her story.
Hattie was a bright, fit and healthy 15year old girl with no previous history or any serious illnesses. She woke in the morning on 25th June with a migraine (which she occasionally suffered from), deteriorated during the day and despite family and paramedics trying to save her she passed away at 5:30pm after suffering a cardiac arrest. As yet we do not have any other information to this to explain and understand her death. Since she left us Hattie’s family and school have been raising money for an orphanage in Kenya which Hattie and her older brother and sister had raised money for whilst at primary school.
The charity requires £70,000 a year and every penny raised goes to run the project. The Good Life Orphanage is a UK founded charity based in Kenya where neglected, abandoned and impoverished children find a home, love, friendship and hope. They will all leave one day knowing that they are special, gifted and able to change their world. That is what makes it such a special place.
