Story
In our Olympic year, I am going to try and add to my Great North Run medal haul with a 4th gong.
Unlike our great Olympians and Paralympians, however, it will not be a successive title for me. It has taken a while to prepare my body for the 13 miles from Newcastle to South Shields on Sunday 16 September, 26 years to be precise. So, while the hair cut might be the same, the shorts will certainly be longer as will the time it takes me to cross the line.
Aided and abetted by a 50 plus strong team from Morrisons, we will be raising money for the Save the Children Families and Schools Together (FAST) programme. The programme aims to boost the chances of kids in the UK's most deprived areas by supporting parents to improve their children's learning and development at home, so they can reach their full potential at school. It really does help improve early learning and enable children aged 3 to 5 get a better start in life.
In the last 12 months or so, we have raised over £3 million with a target to reach £4 million by the beginning of next year. If you were able to make a donation, no matter how small, it would be most welcome.
I'll let you know how I get on!
