Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon 2019 · 5 May 2019 ·
In September 2017, Phil and Esther's 3 month old daughter Charlotte was diagnosed with a very rare pulmonary soft tissue cancer after a very brief spell of illness. 18 months on and Charlotte has had many courses of chemotherapy, an operation at Great Ormond Street Hospital and is currently taking part in a drug trial through the Royal Marsden in Sutton. After many highs and lows and in spite of her treatment Charlotte is currently keeping very well and enjoying life in all its fullness.
During Charlotte’s extremely traumatic treatment journey to date she has spent much time in the Children’s Cancer Unit at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
Throughout this ordeal the family have been particularly astounded by the care offered by the staff in the Children’s Cancer Unit. Their compassion and support enable families to enjoy happy moments even when they face tough realities and exhausting days.
Therefore we want to go through the ordeal of running a leg in the marathon and being exhausted for such a worth cause close to our hearts.
Please consider supporting us either by coming out to watch the or donating financially. As we attempt to run, we will be only too aware of the families who still spend much of their time in the Unit and who will benefit from the money raised.
