Fundraising for Momentum Children's Charity
Story
My name is Charlie and my hair which I have been growing is currently just over 12 inches long and still growing!
After surviving a seasons worth of ridicule from teachers, friends and family regarding the femininity of the style- I've come to the conclusion that it will be quite long enough by the end of this summer.
My plan is to have it specially cut to donate and be made into wigs for children that have lost their hair due to various illnesses and cancer treatments.
In addition to the hair donation I have set up this page to help raise money to donate to a charity named Momentum, this is for a few special reasons that I hold close to my heart.
I've chosen to send the money to Momentum rather than Cancer Research UK as Momentum acts in a far more involved way helping families with children sick with cancer on a more personal level - an aspect of care which is often overlooked but has proved to be invaluable for many families living in Surrey and South West London.
My motivation towards the cause is derived from my own first hand experience of the pain cancer caused for my family with my grandad (also known as my Gaga). He became ill in 2010 and put up a hell of a fight before we lost him the following year.
This was a huge loss for me as he had stepped in acting as a father figure to me and I could never have asked for a better role model. I know he would be so proud to see me making an effort for such a deserving cause.
I have come to know a little boy called Rafe, who has become my family's little friend acting so bravely despite his diagnosis with leukaemia. He and his family have been battling through the relentless treatment since he was a toddler and have jumped many hurdles in the process but not without the irreplaceable service Momentum has offered them.
