Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you will know I worked with Geoff Taylor here at Strakers auctions for a number of years, he has guided and mentored me and has helped make me the auctioneer I am today. Geoff was diagnosed in 2014 with Motor Neurone Disease, and died in 2015 for those of you that are unaware of the disease please do search for it online, it is a truly horrific disease. Over his last few months I spoke with Geoff many times and he always said what an amazing job the Association and in particular the North Wiltshire Group did for him and his family. As a token of appreciation I am running to help awareness of the disease, whilst raising money for the charity to help others in the future.
I have set an initial goal of £850 as this is the amount required to buy a riser recliner armchair to help maintain a level of mobility and comfort for those who can no longer stand unaided.
The Chippenham half marathon was the first step towards my goal of taking part in a 20 mile, 200 obstacle race in May (Rat Race Dirty Weekend for those that would like to see it online!). As I do not really like running or indeed unnecessary exercise I felt raising money for this cause would push me to my limits and get me through the training.
I managed to finish the half marathon (not overly quickly I should add!) but this one is a little longer and I have to do some daft obstacles on the way. So I have a lot of training to do and all the support you give me will no doubt push me just that little bit further and help me get round.
Thank you for you support.
