Great Floridian Triathlon · 23 October 2010
Thanks for coming through to my page. As many of you know (and are bored of hearing about), I signed up to the Great Floridian Triathlon in Clermont, Florida a while ago.

October 23rd is now approaching frighteningly fast. The 'Ironman' event consists of a 2.5mile swim then a 112 mile bike ride followed by a marathon ('pretty nice little saturday') and as I am beginning to dislike exercise I thought I should take the opportunity to try and raise some much needed money for a bike charity called Re-Cycle that I have been helping out for a while. A great cause and a good reason for me not to stop short of getting on the plane.
Re-Cycle are a charity that raise money and collect secondhand bikes, shipping them to Africa. They are sent to deprived areas and make an immediate impact on the lives of those living there - the bikes also help health/AIDS workers reach remote villages and even provide an ambulance service in rural Namibia (see pic in 'photos' section). There are plenty of unwanted bikes lying around - especially after London's introduction of the bike scheme. It is just a case of finding the funds to make sure they are collected and shipped to those who will benefit hugely rather than waiting for them to be thrown in a landfill site to sit in the earth for hundreds of years to come.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - We raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please give generously, I know that there have been some expensive summers that I am contending with here, please remember that there is an 'anonymous' donation option and any amount will help...check out the video on the left of the page - that could be me, I'll definitely be dressed the same.
Thanks, Hayden.
