Swimathon 2019 · 29 March 2019 to 31 March 2019 ·

Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie are calling on the nation to get down to the pool for Swimathon 2019 - thousands of swimmers, two great causes, one big charity challenge.

Story

Heyy, my is Charlie Hyde and I am a 16 year old para-swimmer who is one day hopping to make the Paralympics. Last year, I swam 2.5k in memory of my Grandad Phillip Hyde and Uncle Steve Dalley, this year I am going to challenge myself and swim the 5K in their memory.

My Grandad Phil never saw me swim as he sadly passed away on the 16th of December 2010, I had only just started swimming before hand but he was to ill to come and watch me swim. So swimming this event in memory of his name means a lot to me. He always told me to do what I want to do and I am doing what I love, swimming. I hope I am making you proud Grandad. Love your little devil.

My uncle Steve sadly passed away in 2017 due to this awful illness. They both sadly lost their battle to cancer. I am not only swimming for them but I am swimming for everyone that has lost their battle to this horrible disease.

I am hoping that this fundraising can help the people fighting and to further the research of beating cancer.

This event will be held at Stratford aquatic centre and I will be swimming my 5k on the 30/03/2019 between 5-8 PM.

I am hoping to raise a minimum of £200 for cancer research.

Please help us to achieve this ☺️

Thank you!

Charlie 😘
