Story

Hi everyone!

I'm Natalie, Charlie the rabbits foster mum and I'm going to be climbing Mount Snowdon with my partner Karl and friends Megan and Guy, to raise money to help pay for his vets bills.

Charlie is a feisty, head-nudging, broccoli-loving, stair-hopping, cardboard-destroying, hay-munching little man who has taken our household by a storm! His constant desire to climb up your legs and show you his bum when he's had enough of you makes us wonder if he is part-rabbit, part-dog, part-human! But unfortunately, Charlie's life hasn't always been so rosy, and despite his love for food, sleep and the occasional snuggle, he's still fighting a very long battle!

Some of you may remember, last November, a rabbit was found by a member of the public in a bad way, abandoned in a field. This little rabbit was Charlie. Unfortunately, Charlie had severe swelling to his left eye, scarring and missing chunks on his left ear which he wasn't using, and appeared to have a bad infection as a result. I fostered Charlie after Millstream appealed for someone to help bring him back to health, ready for being adopted.

But, unfortunately, Charlie's problem's weren't as simple as we thought!

After weekly (and sometimes daily!) vets visits, 2 operations, antibiotic medicine, weekly injections and all the eye drops in the world, Charlie's injuries have healed and his eye trauma resolved through surgery that corrected an unfortunate eyelid default. Phew!

But sadly, theres been a nasty infection that just won't go away and this is why we need your help!

Charlie is now being treated at an exotics specialist where he has undergone (even more) procedures to find out exactly what is causing this stubborn infection that gives him a serious case of the sneezes! Charlie's been diagnosed with a bad sinus infection which will need some intensive treatment to try and control, and hopefully cure. He is on 2 antibiotic injections and 2 sessions of a nebuliser treatment a day for the next 3 months! We don't know if Charlie will be able to be fully rid of this infection but with the right care and medicine we can give it a try and, most importantly, take control of it.

So myself, Charlie and Millstream Animal Shelter are asking you wonderful people for your much needed help! We need to raise as much money as possible to pay for this treatment to go ahead and help the happiest little rabbit live the fullest life he can.

Millstream have never given up on Charlie, providing the financial support he needs to get better, but for this next phase of treatment we really really need your donations! So, to give even more of a chance of raising the money we need, I've decided to climb Mount Snowdon on Saturday 17th June with my partner Karl who'll be capturing our journey along the way for you all to follow and our friends Megan and Guy who have volunteered to take on the trek with us for Charlie. We will be taking the longest route on the highest mountain in Wales at 1085m high. The journey will see us climbing around 9 miles and is expected to take us around 6.5 hours to complete (though maybe longer in my case as a walk-a-phobe with a fear of heights!). I'm desperate to give this little man a fighting chance so, hopefully, my pain will be Charlie's gain; please support us on our mission to get him the care he needs to live a happy and healthy life and donate anything you can! All donations will go directly to Millstream Animal Shelter to be used for Charlie's vet bills.

We can't thank you enough in advance!!
