Story
Charlie Tugwell (aged 19) left his family home in Peasedown St John at 7pm on the evening of Monday 7 April 2014 telling his father Stephen he was going out on his bike.
When he had not returned later that evening his mother Tracy went to search for him, concerned that he’d had an accident.
Charlie, who was a keen mountain biker, was later discovered by his father and two friends lying next to his bike unconscious and not breathing.
His body was found around 2am on Tuesday morning along an isolated track (Byway that vehicles also use) between Wellow and Peasedown St John near Bath (via White Ox Mead) also known as Wellow - Upper Hayes to White Ox Mead (Byway & ORPA, E-W)
Emergency services were called but Charlie was pronounced dead at the scene.
Charlie was a quiet boy, but had a wonderful nature and sense of humour. He was talented both academically and with his hands, he was an excellent photographer and artist and doing well at college.
He built his own downhill bike for downhill mountain biking in the Forest of Dean which he loved doing with his dad and cousin Jim, he loved family holidays surfing in Cornwall and also loved to ski and went on two ski trips to Austria as well as the dry ski slope in Gloucester.
Charlie, a former pupil at Peasedown St John Primary and Writhlington School, was a second-year graphic design student at the college.
He had secured a place at the University of Gloucestershire to study product design.
His younger brother Harry, 17, is also a student at the college and he also leaves behind an older sister Leanne, 31.
