At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Well ruddy nora and hells bells, who would've thought it!

As some of you may know, my wife and I have a passion for all things foodie and boozy. Although Zoe is a bit of an exercising fiend, I can't recall the last time I was anywhere near fit and healthy. I'm sure you're all aware this running malarkey is a bit out of character for both of us.

When we lost my Grandad in January, it hit harder than expected. He had been living with Alzheimer's for nearly four years, and in a way we had already lost a lot of him. Dementia is a cruel disease that deeply affects not only those living with the disease but their family and friends around them. Dennis Elmore was a wonderful man who introduced Elvis Presley, Arsenal and tea into my life - he was so loved by so many. I'm sure if he could see us running now, he'd be cackling at the sidelines and making fart noises as we ran!

We are aiming to raise as much as possible so that we can contribute towards finding a cure and improving the quality of life for those affected by the disease.

Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year – that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
