Thankyou for taking the time to look at my page.
I will be running the Virgin London Marathon in 2011 in support of Bowel Cancer UK. There are many charities that are worthy of fund raising effort, however I chose this charity for specific reasons. Bowel cancer is the third most common form of cancer in the UK and affects both men and women equally. Over the past 10 years I have known several people with a diagnosis of bowel cancer. Some with positive treatment outcomes but others sadly not. One such person is my dad's brother Gilbert. Take a look at my pictures and you'll see him with his family on his 65th birthday in October 2008. With the love and support of his family, Uncle Gil underwent surgery and many cycles of chemotherapy treatment over several years. Unfortunately he died in August 2009.
Bowel Cancer UK aims to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer, campaigning for best treatment and care and providing practical support and advice. The latter is often essential to families and carers.
