Story
Our darling Johanne Elsie Woodhead, my mother, passed away on 17 November 2016. She was shown exceptional care over a number of months by the brilliant team at the Gloucester Royal Hospital. We are so thankful for the consultants, doctors, nursing staff and support workers who worked tirelessly for her wellbeing and did all they could to help her, despite the significant difficulties with her health. In particular, we are indebted to Mr Roe, Dr Winter and the team in Ward 5B; Dr Pickett and the renal team, as well as the High Dependency Unit for the most wonderful care of my mother - she was just one of many individuals they care for on a daily basis with professionalism and compassion.
We frequently hear criticism of the NHS, but we can only offer great praise and sincere thanks for the NHS and the kind, compassionate, professionals we have encountered. Johanne Woodhead has received outstanding care - not only in the final months of her life, but indeed over a number of years.
We are heartbroken that Johanne Woodhead is no longer with us, but thankful that we can celebrate a life well lived. She made the world a brighter place, and her beautiful smile, warmth and compassion will always remain in our hearts. She lives on through her children and grandchildren, as well as through the inspiration she gave to all her family and friends. Her marriage of over forty years with her beloved husband Paul was a shining example of commitment, tenderness, companionship and faithfulness. So dearly loved... and deeply missed.
