This summer I will be taking part in the Warwick in Africa programme for the second year running. This year I will be travelling to Ghana to teach in a local school and inspire more young people to love learning.

Last Summer, teaching in Tanzania with the Warwick in Africa programme was without a doubt, the most wonderful and life changing experience I have ever had the honour of being a part of. Hearing students tell me that I have inspired them and given them a new outlook on life was the most incredible feeling and spurred me to take part in the programme for a second time this year. 

The effect that Warwick in Africa has on the maths and English ability of all the learners it meets is quite incredible. But potentially the most fantastic part of the programme is how it inspires both the learners and the African teachers that we work with and bring back to the UK for top quality training. 

Warwick in Africa was established in 2006 and since then 465,000 learners have benefited from the programme. 94% of learners taught by Warwick in Africa volunteers now find maths and English easier, with maths test results increasing from an average of 29% to 51% and English results leaping from an average of 54% to 73%.

Anything at all that you can give will be so much appreciated, not only by me, but by every single child and teacher who I meet and work with during my time there. It costs only £10 to teach a child for a month through the Warwick in Africa programme.
