The Ironman Challenge
The inmates of HMP Longlartin are participating in the ironman challenge to raise money for cancer. The challenge consists of an intense fitness ordeal that Lea Rusha ains to complete within 6 hours.
The funds raised will go to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for the "Cyberknife Appeal". The Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be the only UK hospital outside London with the Cyberknife system if they can rasie the 3.5 million necessary to purchase the system. the difference this technology can make to every cancer sufferer's life is immeasureable. Through more accurate, less harmful and less time-consuming treatment, it makes cancer less a part of their lives.
the endurance based circuit will include a 10,000m Row, 1000 Burpee's, 50km bike ride, 1000 sit ups & 10km run.
The challenge will take place at Longlartin on 8th March 2013. The local papers will be covering the ordeal, and the results of the challenge including the participants timings will be posted within the week of completion.
