Working as a nurse on the in patient unit at St Cuthbert's Hospice I get to meet all of the patients and the families that we care for.

One of the things that people would like to be able to do in their final days is spend the night sleeping alongside their partner in a double bed.

Unfortunately due to patients needs we are only able to accommodate patients in single beds, meaning their partners need to sleep beside them in a camp bed.

I have done some research and found a specialist medical double bed that allows the patient to have all of the support needed with a side enabling a partner to share the bed.

It would mean everything to me if I was able to make this possible for the people I care for. This has became even more important to me as my cousin Judith Young has expressed during her current illness that when her time comes this would be something that would be a great comfort to her knowing this service was there.

This will ensure more couples and families a comfortable stay with us.
