Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In October this year Louise Nicholson, Callum Ferguson, Nick Lovell and Pete Whyte will attempt to trek to Everest Base Camp. It will be an 18 day trek sure to test the physical capabilities, mental strength and patience of all involved. It is also self paid so 100% of all money raised goes to charity.

Cystic Fibrosis is one of the most common life-threatening diseases in the UK, affecting the internal organs including the lungs and consequently making breathing difficult for sufferers. In fact, most sufferers have less than half the lung capacity of the average person.

Being a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer himself, Nick will be the first person in the UK with the condition to have attempted the expedition, during which he and fellow team members Peter Whyte and Callum Ferguson will ascend to 18,000 ft and experience high altitudes with scarce oxygen.

Nick commented, “The purpose of the trek is not just to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis, it is also to show that having an illness should never stand in the way of the achievement of personal goals and ambitions.”

"On a personal note I would like to say thank you to Callum, Lou and Pete for climbing Everest with me.  Climbing Everest with CF will be very difficult especially as experienced climbers have compared it to having CF during the trek, however I am sure with their support we can all reach our goal, thank you for your support".
