We provide conductive education in Brighton to help children with physical disabilities

Story

“I am Chip and I am doing the Mini-Mile to raise money for Whoopsadaisy in order to help them get more equipment for the other children. I am helping Whoopsadaisy because they have helped me with my cerebral palsy and my walking. I like Whoopsadaisy because they make things fun as well as active."

Chip was born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. This means that messages struggle to get from his brain to his muscles, big and small, and it affects all four of his limbs. When he was born we were told Chip would never be able to walk, use his hands, talk or have any sort of independent life. Eight years on and Chip is running the Mini-Mile (part of the Brighton Marathon Weekend)! He’s a cheeky, bright, funny little boy in a mainstream school. He zips about in his walker chasing his friends and twin sister, loves drawing and painting and cracking terrible jokes!

Whoopsadaisy have been with Chip every step of the way. There is no doubt that without them, Chip would not be the amazing bundle of energy, fun and independence that he is today. Chip started weekly session at Whoopsadaisy when he was six months old and is still using the service today. From a parent’s perspective, Whoopsadaisy gave us hope at the darkest time and their unwavering support of our family is yet another part of this extraordinary charity.

Whoopsadaisy use a combination of physio techniques and, through rhythm and repetition, support children to make the most of the abilities they have in all areas of daily life. Whoopsadaisy has given Chip mobility, confidence and independence - all things we never thought he’d have. He has a level of confidence and determination that is extraordinary. We have no doubt that these invaluable skills that Whoopsadaisy has nurtured will take Chip to extraordinary places. The charity is wholly dependent on donations to run their service and anything you can give in support is much appreciated.

Huge thanks also to Jo Foster, who will be running the mile with Chip and has been training with him for the event.
