SCOTLAND: The Big Picture works to make rewilding happen across Scotland, as a solution to the growing climate and biodiversity crises, by influencing opinion and delivering practical change.

Story

My health has been terrible so far this year, but getting out into nature has been keeping me going, so participating in the Big Green Hike is a way for me to get out into nature and raise money to support nature at the same time. While I won't be doing a solo Munro (this time!), I'm planning an 11 mile route through the Moorfoot hills, taking in a couple summits including the wonderfully named Blackhope Scar. Jura, my reliable if occasionally anxious hillwalking companion, will be joining me, and hopefully we will get to spot some interesting flora and fauna en route.

I am raising money for Scotland: the big picture, an extremely cool and ambitious nature restoration movement comprising numerous smaller projects, including but not limited to the Northwoods Rewilding Network (aiming to create a network of interconnected ecosystems on private land across Scotland) and Lynx to Scotland (aiming to reintroduce one of Scotland's now extinct apex predators). If you would like to know more about what they do, have a look at their website: https://www.scotlandbigpicture.com/.

Any donation is appreciated, but just for inspiration if you donated £1/mile for me and the same for Jura that would be a total of £22 :)
