We support our kidney patients to provide medical equipment & information

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

"My Second Home" - Larry was always grateful to the Renal unit at The Royal Free Hospital, Belsize Park, London for giving him a 2nd chance after kidney failure in 1999, as grateful as he was to the family who's relatives donated her kidney after death in 2006. Between his own bloody minded determination & the renal unit's close monitoring Larry managed to go on almost until the end of the maximum life expectancy of a cadaveric kidney donor recipient (8 - 15 years is typical). By way of thanks he regularly donated his time, & body, to 'professional patient' sessions where his attendance helped numerous recently qualified doctors with further training.

We all have our Time to enter this world & a Time to leave is arranged as we progress, there are options.... I was informed via internal messaging in May 2017 that Larry was coming towards the end of his time here, & that pneumonia would be a factor, which is what covid led to in his case. I say this simply to help us accept this was his path; it was no accident & there is no need for "shoulda, woulda, coulda" - one of many 'Larryisms'. The Word is a vibration, & vibration - using loving thoughts, is how we stay connected to those we love & how we open ourselves to the love they send to us.

Larry, dearest Bear, now you know how much you are truly loved by many. And although I am blessed with a certain gift that enables me to feel & hear you close by, I will always miss your physicality, your presence & your laughter. I am trying not to feel lost. This experience in its' self is a part of life, as is death, which is the doorway to further Life, never an ending. This was Larry's time to transition. And he needed to, he was utterly exhausted from all the myriad pains/insomnia/etc he was dealing with.

With deepest gratitude to all at The Royal Free, especially the Renal Unit. I'd like to also thank Renal consultant Dr Mark Harber.
