Story

Ok - so here we go.

Our so called team are three people that enjoy running. First of course there's me, then there's Steve,an old friend of mine and then there's Debbie, a Neighbour of Steve's. Between us, we stagger, plod, jog and sometimes even run a few 10K events throughout the year. Steve is the racer, Debbie is young and keen and I just plod along at the rear with my usual advice of "start off slow then go slower". Its always works for me.

In September we run the Robin Hood Half Marathon. It isn't this first time I've run it and hopefully it won't be the last, but it is the first time that I've asked for sponsorship. Then in October we're running the Birmingham Half Marathon. I ran that event last year - it was cold, wet and the course was very hilly. I swore at the time never to do it again but my running (so called) mates convinced me it would be different this time. The picture above is me whizzing past our team photographer at the 8 mile mark - cheers Andy.

So I'm combining the two events and calling it my "marathon" - its 26.2 miles but OK I admit that there's four weeks in between the two halves.

Now the serious bit. Over the past couple of years I've known friends, relatives and workmates that have suffered with cancer. Cancer doesn't distinguish between nice guys, healthy people, the young or the old. It can strike any of us at any time and if we're going to beat it, its going to take money : money that the government doesn't seem to want to give out.

So I ask you to give a donation to my cause, however small, it will make a difference.

Both Steve and Debbie are also asking for sponsorship so between us we're hoping to raise a few bob.

Thank you in anticipation.
