As many of you may know i've been accustomed to running Marathons in the past to raise money for Cancer Research as my dear Mother passed away on 28th November, 2005 after an 11 year fight with Non Hodgkinson's Lymphoma.

Unfortunately her death left a huge void in our family, she was an incredible woman. My Father especially, never fully recovered and after 4 tough years without his soulmate he found the loss too hard to bare. On the 15th August 2009 he took his own life as the burden of living without her was ultimately too much.

My brother and I have found the journey from this day incredibly painful and difficult in so many ways. Unfortunately there are very few charities that address this situation. However Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide, who I have visited and spoken with, provide a forum to help people left in the wake of such a tragedy whilst also aiming to work on areas such as prevention and intervention.  

Therefore, along with my brother Nick, I have decided to take part in the London Triathlon on the 8th August (1500m swim, 40 km bike ride and 10 km run). Our fundraising will go to a charity that helps and continues to support those people left behind whilst also improving public awareness and quite possibly saving lives.

Unfortunately to many this may seem to be a taboo subject with many emotional and social stigmas attached and I realise this may shock some but I assure you this was never my intent. I hope you can appreciate the delicacy of the situation but I hope to use the emotions that have been left behind for a better purpose, in a productive manner and the opportunity to do some good. I am and will eternally be proud of my Father, he will forever be missed along with my beautiful Mother.

My brother and I will always be grateful for your support and encouragement and hope this sponsorship will help others in this circumstance.
