Lands End to John O'Groats · 25 August 2012
Summer Seavor was born October 12th 2006 in Hereford County Hospital. She was born at 32 weeks with a hole in her right lung. The doctors at Hereford informed that our daughter had to be transferred to The Royal Shrewsbury Neonatal Unit as soon as possible and to prepare for the worse of her not even making it there alive.
Summer survived the journey in the back of an Ambulance and was kept alive at shrewsbury by the fantastic nurses and the equipment available to them.
Unfortunately this specialst equipment was not available in Hereford which is why Summer had to make the journey. This unit is entirely fed from charitble donations which makes this fundraising event even more special to me. I want to give back to this charity and keep them saving more babies' lives.
The staff on the ward were very supportive throughout Summer's stay, we were able to ring at any time of the day from the B+B we were staying at down the road to check on how she was doing. Their support made it easier for us to leave Summer when we needed to sleep and rest.
There will no doubt be times on my ride that I will feel down and exhausted, but knowing what I am riding for and the fantastic support from friends and family will get me through those times.
You would not believe, looking at her now, that Summer was so poorly when she was born. She is strong and healthy and I am very grateful for the people that kept her alive so that I can watch her grow up.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please feel free to donate as much or as little as you can afford. It is a great cause, these nurses do not get the full credit they deserve, and if I didn't go through the pain and heartache back in 2006 then I wouldn't of known myself how amazing these people are and how much they rely on charity.
