Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I decided a few months ago that I wanted to set myself a big challenge to complete this year. So, having just rediscovered the joys of biking (thanks Ken), I thought I'd try to complete the famous ride from Lands End to John O'Groats......................all 1000 miles of it!
After being turned down by several of my friends (you know who you are, so pay up! ;-) ) I decided to carry on regardless and do it on my own, very generously assisted by my Dad who will act as my support crew/mechanic/motivator and cook (he doesn't know that last one yet!). Thanks Dad.
I am starting the ride on Sunday 6th June 2010, and hope to complete it in about 10 days.
The route takes me from Lands End, across the Severn Bridge, up to Hereford (stopping off at my parents house for a proper shower and bed), up through Shrewsbury, the Lake District, past Glasgow, over the Highlands (gulp!) and finally to John O'Groats - the northerly end of the longest distance between two points on the British mainland!
As I'm going to be going through a fair amount of pain, it would help so much if I knew that what I was doing might raise some money for a really great charity that does amazing work to fight a disease that will sadly affect one in three people, Cancer Research UK.
Cancer Research UK works hard to improve our understanding of the disease and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it. By raising money for Cancer Research UK you are doing something really positive for others - supporting work that helps save lives.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now, it's for such a good cause, and the thought of your generosity will motivate me to keep going when times get tough out there!
Thank you so much.
:-)
Chris.
