Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have really valued the personal support we have had from you since Chris died. Now we want to pay back to the arts community the joy we had from living with Chris by ensuring that the Travel Award in his name can be given for the full 15 years we intended.
Chris studied graphic design and communication at the
University of the Arts London. He was a talented sign writer, co-founder of Calm & Collected, Toucan Signs and Alphabetics Anonymous and together they undertook commissions for a range of prestigious clients from the Museum of London and Jo Malone to a premier division football club.
He was an enthusiastic supporter of Letterheads and its
global reach. He wanted to travel more and learn about lettering in other cultures.
After Chris’s sudden death in 2019 his parents, aunts and
studio colleagues at Done London set up a memorial fund to support emerging graphic artists with an annual travel prize. The prize will continue Chris’s wish that graphic designers trained in the UK will have the opportunity to learn from the experience of designers working in countries and cultures across the world.
The award is judged and administered by the Graphic
Communication Design Department of Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London under the guidance of the Programme Director, Dr Rebecca Ross. Merit and means are the broad criteria for the award made to a second year student.
We ourselves are committed to funding the prize for fifteen
years but we’d like to be able to be certain that the award will continue and even extend the scope or tenure of the award. If you would like to contribute to the fund we
should be extremely delighted.
Thank you
Sue and Patrick, Hilly Mackenzie, Fiona Mackenzie and Tom Andrews & Will Rowley-Conwy of Done London
