I have learnt a valuable lesson in life, which is not to make flippant comments such as “yes, that 2.5 mile open water swim looks good, shall we give it a go next year?” Unfortunately, that next year is now on Sunday 18th August 2013. You could imagine my surprise when a letter emerged in the post saying “thank you for entering the Breakwater Swim.” I later learned that my brother-in-law had very kindly submitted my application; thank you Simon you are too kind. Well, it will be an adventure dodging boats; ferries; and the occasional submarine!

The Chestnut Appeal is a fantastic charity that supports the fight against prostate cancer therefore; if the thought of me in a wetsuit early on a Sunday morning; being dropped off by a boat 2.5 miles at sea and told to swim back makes you smile then please feel free to donate.
