Hackney Half Marathon for Charlie

Hackney Half Marathon 2019 · 19 May 2019 ·
Because of cancer the world has lost another shining light and I've been robbed of a second close family member. In March my indescribably awesome brother Charlie was taken in the prime of his life, at just 38-years-old. This followed my beloved Mum's premature death from cancer nine years earlier.
Charlie was brimming with love for this world and possessed many special talents that have been so cruelly wasted. Having witnessed Charlie's five-year struggle with this brutal disease I would gently ask those friends and family who can, to donate a little towards my half marathon which will be put to use in the battle to beat cancer.
I know I'm far from alone in writing stories such as this. We have to do more as a society to prevent this merciless and devastating disease and pour money into research. The emergence of immunotherapy treatments is particularly encouraging, but screening for cancer and early detection is still the best and most under exploited method of curing it. This is an issue I intend to campaign on in the near future, especially for bowel cancer.
Thanks so much for your support, love Christian x
